The Rotary Club of Dunnville was awarded it's official charter at a gala event at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 142 on August 21, 1993. Among the 150 attendees included MP Bob Speller, local community counselors, present and past Rotary District Governors. and many distinguished Rotarians with their Rotary partners from the United States and Canada.

Watertite Roofing business owner Archie Merigold, holds the proud honour of being one of the three original members who brought forward the concept of a new service club into the Dunnville business community.  Assisted by the Rotary Club of Port Colborne, they worked over 18 months at recruitment and on the development of the club to meet the chartering criteria required by Rotary International. Being a founding member along with being the Chartering President required a lot of time-sacrifice, effort and dedication. "...To be a Rotarian is to believe in service above self...one must fully accept it and take it to heart..." said Mr. Merigold.
